Melvin’s Geek Song of the Week 4-23-12

23 Apr

Melvin’s a day late in celebrating Earth Day, but today’s song is a tribute to man’s beginnings on our dear planet.  Enjoy!

The Song: “Children of Africa” by Symphony of Science

The Lyrics:

We are all children of Africa
They say this is where it all began

In a parched African landscape
Man first put his foot to the ground

Africa was our only home
for tens of thousands of years
until a small handful of people made their way
out of Africa

These beings with soaring imagination
Eventually flung themselves and their machines
Into interplanetary space

The Artist:  Symphony of Science is an incredible collection of music and videos made by combining stunning visuals with autotuned speeches by some of the world’s greatest science innovators and educators.  To quote the official website and its creator, “Hey – I’m John Boswell, the musician and producer behind the Symphony of Science. The goal of the project is to bring scientific knowledge and philosophy to the public, in a novel way, through the medium of music. Science and music are two passions of mine that I aim to combine, in a way that is intended to bring a meaningful message to listeners, while simultaneously providing an enjoyable musical experience.”

The music and videos are really and truly inspiring.  Be sure to check them all out!
