Mario Top 10

“It’s-a me, Mario!” -Super Mario 64

One of my favorite childhood memories is playing Super Mario brothers at my Grandma’s house, with my sister. We were never very skilled at the game, but would play for hours at a time. There was a small TV, with the NES attached, set up in the far corner of our Grandma’s bedroom, but still close enough to the bed that we would have somewhere comfortable to sit. If I can close my eyes, I can still remember exactly how it looked. And today, Mother’s Day, makes me want to think about this time even more – I miss you Grams!

It’s funny how memories can be jogged with a simple glimpse at a picture of something from your childhood. Please join me in reminiscing, as I share the following amazing finds.

10 – 1UP Mushroom Cuff Links
Next time you’re trying to figure out what to get the geek guy(s) in your life, keep these in mind. I love when guys wear cuff links, and it’s even better when they represent something special to him.

9 – Invincibility Star Earrings
One of my favorite parts of playing Super Mario Bros. was when you catch the “Starman” and you can be invincible for the short time. The flashing Mario has always been one of my favorite graphics.

8 – Mushroom Pendant
Mushrooms are such an important part of the Mario games. If you have an affinity for the game, like me, you need to own this pendant.

7 – Mario Lap Quilt
I get cold very easily, and often can be found covered in a blanket, even on a not so cool summer evening. This blanket is the perfect size to snuggle with at home, or to take on the go, and would be great year round.

6 - Stained Glass Mushroom
I love when home decor mixes with my geeky obsessions, and this is a great example of a piece of home decor that no geek home should be without.

5 – Mario Coasters
Let’s face it, you really don’t want to get water marks on that new piece of furniture. And if you’re like me, you have searched high and low for the perfect coaster set that will protect your furniture as well as your personal style. Well, look no more!

4 – Princess Daisy Watercolor Painting
Daisy has always been my favorite Mario Bros. princess (I even dressed up as her for Halloween a few years ago.), and I love how well this painting represents her character and beauty.

3 – Piranha Plant Earrings
Piranha plants are so fun to watch, as long as your character doesn’t come in contact with one.  These nicely designed earrings are perfect for any geek girl who is also fascinated with these plants.

2 – Princess Peach’s Crown
How adorable! Every girl wishes at some point that she could be a princess, and now is your chance! The size of this crown is adorable and can be worn by girls of any age.

1 – Hand-Painted Super Mario Heels
I’m a huge fan of the hand-painted shoe fad, and think that this pair is amazing.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

[...] good. They may be mouthy little bastards but to me they have a certain cute charm about them and as Tanya said they are fun to watch. A look with a little bite is as simple as a green dress, red and white [...]
