My goodness, what a big week we have ahead of us! Friday, May 25th is a day with so many geeky happenings, I barely know where to start. Firstly we have Wear the Lilac day, for all of you Terry Pratchett (Discworld) buffs out there. Secondly is Towel Day, a tribute to the late great Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy).
Next we have the 35th anniversary of the geeky cornerstone, Star Wars! Then to bring it all together we have Geek Pride Day! It’s as if the fate’s align to bring us all together. -tear-
Whether you’re a Discworld fan, a Hitchiker’s junkie, a Star Wars nerd, or just an all around geek this week is something special. Of course Christmas and Halloween are our traditional staples, but what about our geek-made holidays? These don’t stem from religion or ceremonies. They don’t date back hundreds years, but that just makes them special in their own right. It adds a new meaning to them, being created and celebrated by fans. 
By making our own holidays we create our own traditions, and how wonderful it is to be part of a community that’s capable of such things. I’d love to go into each and every reason why we do what we do, but if you’re on Mom’s Basement reading this, I have a feeling you already know. There are fan-made days all throughout the year, but it’s rare we have a day filled with so many! It’s truly something to celebrate, and I can’t wait to do so.
With this being such a special weekend, I wanted to make sure Treasury Tuesday reflected that. To help this happen I have a little trick up my sleeve.
