Atari Finds

24 Jun

I was recently in the coolest video game store (Jay Street Video Games) that I’ve ever been in, in the King of Prussia Mall. The store has games for every console imaginable, and made me want to come home, hook up my Atari 2600, and play the games that I grew up playing.

How many of these do you remember playing for hours at a time?

10 – Pitfall Mittens Knitting Pattern
This item combines two of my passions: knitting and gaming. Pitfall is my Mom’s favorite Atari game, and though I tried, I was still haven’t gotten farther in this game than she has.

9 – Pac-Man Ghost Pendant
My favorite part of this necklace is the googly eyes – they’re a perfect addition to this already awesome pendant.

8 – Repurposed Atari 2600
These treasure boxes are made from broken/non-working Atari consoles, and are a great place to keep items that you want to keep safe.

7 – Atari Controller Lamp
Not only is the design amazing for this lamp, but the button is functional?! It doesn’t get any better than this. This lamp is a must have for every game room in existence.

6 – Q*bert Cubes Tee
Though I wasn’t extremely skilled at the game, I used to play Q*bert for hours!

5 – Space Invaders Scarf
This is one of my favorite scarves ever! I hope that one day I’ll be talented enough at knitting that I’ll be able to create something this amazing.

4 – Space Invaders Crayons
Whether you like to color, or want to raise your children with knowledge of the classics, these crayons will be perfect for the next art project.

3 – Atari 2600 Custom Car Emblem
I’m so tempted to get this for my car. I love the look of it, and I love being able to subtly show my geeky side.

2 – Argyle Space Invaders T-Shirt
The idea of combining the argyle pattern with Space Invaders is super creative, and a great creation.

1 – Paculele
I have been teaching myself (with the help of YouTube and a few bits of help from friends) ukulele for a little over a year. The instrument is amazing, and a great string instrument to start learning on. This shop contains a great selection of well designed ukuleles, guitars, etc., and is a great place to shop for the geeky ukulele player.

Thanks so much for featuring my scarf! It’s made using a technique called Double Knitting and youtube is loaded with tutorials if anyone is interested in learning.
