Here at Mom’s Basement, we love to play video games. And when we’re stuck at work, we’re dreaming about video games. At least, I know I am. I’ve found that I often need a pick-me-up partway through my work day, so what better way to cheer me up than to look down at a delicious lunch that looks like a PlayStation controller? So join us on another journey to the world of Bento, and let’s make a lunch that might not be able to help you play video games, but will taste so much better than a plastic controller!
This bento box is based off of the shape of a PlayStation controller. You will need:
PlayStation Bento Box
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 sheet of nori (seaweed)
- 1-2 slices of lunchmeat (I used pepper turkey)
- 1 spinach leaf (or something green)
- sriracha (or something red)
Step 1: Form your cooked rice into the basic shape of a controller. This is the best time to be playing with your food!
Step 2: Cover your rice form with the nori. Place your rice controller into your bento box or plastic container.
Step 3: You will need to cut out the details of the controller. You could use either cheese or some type of lunchmeat. For this bento, I am using turkey. You will need to cut out 2 larger circles; 4 small circles; 4 square-like shapes with points (for the directional pad); the letters S (x2), O, N, Y and P; a medium sized rectangle, small rectangle and medium triangle. You will also need a green triangle, which I cut from spinach. For the X button, I cut 2 small rectangles from the nori.
Step 4: Place your details on the rice controller accordingly. This is a very satisfying step, as your controller starts coming together.
Step 5: Using sriracha sauce, draw a square and circle on the corresponding buttons. If you don’t like sriracha, you could use something else red for these details.
Step 6: Fill in any extra space in your bento box with other foods. I love hot dogs, so I cut up a hot dog to line around the top.
Step 7: Remember this bento box is for eating! Don’t try to connect it to your PlayStation, you might end up with a sticky mess.

Some of these are for eating, some I wouldn’t recommend eating, all are awesome!
