Melvin and I love Doctor Who, but you know who isn’t as much of a fan as I am? My boyfriend. So I decided to pack him a Doctor Who bento box for lunch and see if I could bring him over to the Dalek-side.
This bento is pretty simple, easy and quick to prepare. So if you’re interested in adding a little Wibbly-Wobbly, Timey-Wimey stuff to your lunch, read on!
For this TARDIS bento, you will need:
Cheesy TARDIS Bento
- 2 square slices of white colored cheese (I used provolone)
- Blue food coloring
- a solid lunch food to use for the base of the TARDIS- in this bento, I used meatloaf slices, but a sandwich would work just as nicely
- 1 tortilla wrap
- sriracha sauce (for decoration)
- other filler ingredients for the bento- I used rice and carrots

Step 1: Place the meatloaf slices (or sandwich) on one side of the bento box, tight against the side.
Step 2: Form the 2 cheese squares into a rectangular shape. Drip a few drops of blue food coloring into a bowl with a couple drops of water.
Step 3: Using a clean paintbrush (I just keep one in my kitchen specifically for food painting now), paint the TARDIS design on the cheese.
Step 4: Transfer your cheese TARDIS onto the meatloaf.
Step 5: Fill the rest of your bento with various lunch fillings.
Step 6: Take your tortilla wrap and cut out the basic shape of a Dalek. You didn’t think your lunch was going to get away that easily, did you?
Step 7: Using sriracha, or another type of sauce that you may like better, draw out the details of the Dalek.
Step 8: Place your tortilla Dalek opposite of the cheese TARDIS. Close up your bento and hope that everything is there when you are ready for lunch!
