I really enjoy seeing popular characters re-imagined, particularly in a realistic fashion. My very first post here on Mom’s Basement was on this topic, and this week I decided to re-visit the subject to see if I could find more amazing realistic portrayals of the cartoony characters we all love.
Okay, I have to admit that my husband and I love watching SpongeBob almost as much as our son, and I just can’t get over these awesome human portrayals of our favorite characters. I think all of them look right on target, and I love the subtle additions of traits from the original characters, such as the gap in SpongeBob’s teeth, and the shape of Patrick’s head.
On the topic of cartoons, look at these awesome portrayals:
And apparently Son Goku and Jackie Chan did the Fusion Dance in this painting. That’s one badass combination! (But the picture still makes me chuckle.)
On to video games!
Pokemon seems to be a popular subject for re-imagining. I’m not familiar with any of the Pokemon except the originals from Red and Blue, but this little guy is adorable.
I also like this painting of Mewtwo. It’s very, um, creepy. I certainly wouldn’t be approaching this creature in order to capture it in a ball.
This piranha plant is crazy scary. I love the leathery texture of the skin and the shiny yellow teeth.
Cartoon realism is awesome. Literally. Just check out the painting below.
But don’t go yet! There’s more amazing realism in the Etsy treasury below:
