With Borderlands 2 coming out very soon, Melvin and I thought it would be fun to do a Borderlands inspired recipe… and what’s more inspiring than a big ol’ can of Atlas brand Skag meat? What’s that? You don’t have any Skag? That’s ok, I didn’t have any left either. So I substituted it with SPAM. You know what, bacon gets all the love, but I think SPAM is just as awesome. So while you’re waiting for a new round of shoot and loot, why don’t you fill your stomach with this delicious Skag recipe… because Crazy Earl can’t be wrong, right?
Not only did I draw some inspiration from Borderlands, but I was also thinking of food my Mom used to cook for us, and the food I ate during a recent trip to Hawaii. They really appreciate SPAM there. For this simple Canned Skag Meat Recipe, here’s what you will need:
Canned Skag Meat
- Canned Skag, of course (I used SPAM as a replacement. Crazy Earl had recently stopped by and cleaned out my stock of Canned Skag)
- 2 eggs
- cooked rice
- sriracha
- soy sauce
Step 1: Remove the Skag from the can. This usually involves a highly satisfying suction-y plopping noise that you will never hear anywhere else.
Step 2: Slice the Skag into thin pieces, and place on a frying pan over medium heat.
Step 3: While your Skag is frying up in the pan, place your cooked rice in a bowl.
Step 4: Pour some soy sauce on top of the rice, and drizzle with some Sriracha. You can skip the Sriracha if you don’t think you can handle the heat. But I will admit, I will be a little disappointed if you skip it.
Step 5: After your Skag is nice and fried, place it on top of your rice.
Step 6: Using the same frying pan, fry up your 2 eggs in whatever style you like. Place them on top of your Skag.
Step 7: So simple! Eat it up, go back for more, and feel free to share with your Claptrap.
