The Artist: R.E.M. is an American rock band formed in the early 80s. Though they performed on Late Night with David Letterman in 1983, they didn’t enjoy mainstream success until the late 80s. The group was pivotal in the transition from post punk to alternative rock. In addition to making great music, the group was also socially and politcally active, fighting for human rights and raising awareness of environmental issues (among other things).
Spizzenergi was an English punk group from the late 70s, and you can hear them performing this week’s song here!
