10 Ways To Prepare For “The Walking Dead”

With all of the zombie-like occurences in the news recently, I have to admit that I’m a little nervous that a zombie apocalypse could be just around the corner. Who knows if I’m right or not, but I guess the best bet is to be prepared, just in case. And don’t forget, as noted in the Zombie Survival Guide, “Blades don’t need reloading.”

Despite my huge fear that zombies could be walking down my street at any minute, I’m a fan of “The Walking Dead” on AMC. I am super excited that there will be a marathon on July 7th, and can’t wait to rewatch so many of my favorite episodes. As part of my excitement, I decided to search Etsy for “The Walking Dead” creations. Now I want to watch new episodes – August 12 can’t get here soon enough!

Atari Finds

I was recently in the coolest video game store (Jay Street Video Games) that I’ve ever been in, in the King of Prussia Mall. The store has games for every console imaginable, and made me want to come home, hook up my Atari 2600, and play the games that I grew up playing.

How many of these do you remember playing for hours at a time?

10 – Pitfall Mittens Knitting Pattern
This item combines two of my passions: knitting and gaming. Pitfall is my Mom’s favorite Atari game, and though I tried, I was still haven’t gotten farther in this game than she has.

The JoCo Experience

As a JoCo Cruise Crazy alum, and huge fan of Jonathan Coulton and John Roderick (of The Long Winters), when I heard that they were going to be performing on a weekend in Philadelphia, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to attend. I’ve only ever seen these two perform aboard cruise ships, and their land based show did not disappoint.

The show was at 8:00 PM at World Cafe Live, in downtown Philadelphia, with doors opening at 7:00 PM. And though we had a bit of difficulty with Google Maps finding the parking for this event, we made it in plenty of time to be near the front of the line. While we waited, we played a few rounds of Cards Against Humanity, while beside us, a game or two of Zombie Fluxx was played, and delicious cupcakes by Cupcake Friday Project and another baker were consumed. After they completed the sound check, Jonathan Coulton and John Roderick surprised us by walking through the crowd that was patiently waiting on the stairs before the show. Having met these men before, I know that they are both down to earth, and are wonderful toward their fans, but their pleasantness still amazes me every time I interact with them or see them interact with others. Best Friend Day is on June 8, and whether you have 1 best friend, or multiple, an opportunity to celebrate those friendships should never be missed.

When I was a kid, and even a teenager, I had multiple friends that I was so close to that we shared the ever important best friend necklaces.
