10 Ways To Prepare For “The Walking Dead”

1 Jul

With all of the zombie-like occurences in the news recently, I have to admit that I’m a little nervous that a zombie apocalypse could be just around the corner. Who knows if I’m right or not, but I guess the best bet is to be prepared, just in case. And don’t forget, as noted in the Zombie Survival Guide, “Blades don’t need reloading.”

Despite my huge fear that zombies could be walking down my street at any minute, I’m a fan of “The Walking Dead” on AMC. I am super excited that there will be a marathon on July 7th, and can’t wait to rewatch so many of my favorite episodes. As part of my excitement, I decided to search Etsy for “The Walking Dead” creations. Now I want to watch new episodes – August 12 can’t get here soon enough!

Also, did you know that Mom’s Basement had an exclusive interview with a “The Walking Dead” walker! Check it out here.

Atari Finds

24 Jun

I was recently in the coolest video game store (Jay Street Video Games) that I’ve ever been in, in the King of Prussia Mall. The store has games for every console imaginable, and made me want to come home, hook up my Atari 2600, and play the games that I grew up playing.

How many of these do you remember playing for hours at a time?

10 – Pitfall Mittens Knitting Pattern
This item combines two of my passions: knitting and gaming. Pitfall is my Mom’s favorite Atari game, and though I tried, I was still haven’t gotten farther in this game than she has.

9 – Pac-Man Ghost Pendant
My favorite part of this necklace is the googly eyes – they’re a perfect addition to this already awesome pendant.

10 Ways To Show Dad That He’s Super

10 Jun

If you’re anything like me, you grew up thinking that your Dad was Superman. There wasn’t anything that he couldn’t do, and he was truly invincible. I love my Dad so much, and still believe that he’s my Superman. He is always there to swoop in to save the day and seems to be able to accomplish things that others cannot. And though he may not have super powers, he’s still a super hero in my eyes.

Well we only have 1 week until Fathers Day, and let’s honor the Fathers in our lives by showing they just how SUPER they really are!

10 – Superhero Caricature Card
Every Fathers Day gift needs the perfect card. This custom caricature is the perfect way to show that you care, and it adds that special touch that you can’t find with regular greeting cards.

Top 10 BFF Gifts

3 Jun

Best Friend Day is on June 8, and whether you have 1 best friend, or multiple, an opportunity to celebrate those friendships should never be missed.

When I was a kid, and even a teenager, I had multiple friends that I was so close to that we shared the ever important best friend necklaces. One of my best friends and I actually got into a fight about which one of us got which pendant. Looking back at it just makes me laugh, but be careful when dividing the following necklaces among your friends, as you don’t want to end up in the same situation that I was in.

10 – Friendship Fairy in a Bottle Necklaces
Don’t go anywhere without your fairy, as you may need someone to pick you up when you get hurt.

9 – Robot Metal Key Chain
ROBOTS! BFF ROBOTS!!

8 – Best Friends Pair Happy Pencil and Eraser Pendants
You can’t have a pencil without an eraser. I mean, how else will you clean up your mistakes? Will you be my eraser?

7 – Two Peas in a Pod
We’re like 2 peas in a pod.

6 – Resident Evil – T-Virus and Anti-Virus Friendship Necklace Set
One of you has the virus… one has the cure. Best to keep you together so that we don’t have a zombie attack on our hands.

5 – Pokeball Inspired BFF/Couple’s Necklace
“… I CHOOSE YOU!”

4 – Rock Paper Scissor Polymer Clay Best Friend Necklaces
<3! You could play rock, paper, scissors to figure out who gets which piece.

3 – Octopus Tentacle Best Friend Necklaces
I am finding that I love octopus tentacles more and more every time that I see them.

2 – Pixel Heart Friendship Necklaces
You fill my heart!

1 – Zombie and Brain Heart Best Friends Necklace Set
I love you as much as zombies love brains!

Accordion Awareness Month: Top 10 Accordion Creations

27 May

Did you know that June is National (US) Accordion Awareness Month? Well, as I’m a bit of a music geek, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share some great Accordion pieces that I found on Etsy. Also, to better keep the awareness going, I have also found a video of renegadeaccordion (also known for performing in various locations through out NYC, while wearing a Boba Fett helmet) on Youtube, playing “Legend of Zelda Theme Song”:

Many of these pieces brought back even more college memories – this time of a dear friend, who would dance while playing his accordion. He is very talented, and I used to love when he would come into the room carrying his accordion case/accordion. This selection is dedicated to you, John. I hope that you’re doing well, and playing your accordion every chance that you get!

10 - Accordion Magnets/Tacks
Music appreciation can be shown in so many ways, and these magnet or thumb tacks (you choose which you’d like) are a great way to celebrate an accordion, while helping to keep your items organized.

9 – Accordion T-shirt
I’m a huge fan for screen printed t-shirts. There are so many different themes/pictures that can allow you to wear something special to you.
